June 15, 2010 - 8:34 am Sandie Brown - What a beautiful bride...gorgeous brown eyes and talk about "the look of love"..you captured it!

looooosy

meeting up with this family has been in the making since last year. brooke sent me an email ‘booking’ me for june of 2010- knowing that cannon would be one. about 2 weeks leading up to the pics, i started getting lots of emails from brooke- letting me know her excitement, telling me about ideas, giving me an itinerary of time- and i quickly realized- this gal is on top of it. i like that. i appreciate that. it is so not me and i’m envious of that.  and you might think that someone so on top of it- might be a bit too type a for me- but it so could not be further from the truth. right when we saw eachother- we gave a quick wave- with big smiles. i think i might have jumped out of my car and hugged her and she kind of started talking fast- and i remember kind of looking up at her- because she’s a good head taller than me- and thinking i like this girl. and then my thoughts were something like- wow! she’s smoking in her dress. and then i realized how much more  i liked her when i could tell she had absolutely no idea how smoking she really is. oh, have i mentioned somewhere in that train of thought, was i also remember seeing her car jam packed full of props? yeah. we are talking so jammed cannon almost didn’t have a spot to sit. yeah. pretty great.

and so began our morning adventures in georgetown. the starting point of our itenaray.

p.s. i just amended my post. here i was, chatting up brooke and all her props, but meanwhile- i didn’t show any pics of her props. these sailor hats (that they are all donning) were maybe my most favorite props. if you could have seen kuba’s face when she brought them out- you would have died. i’m pretty sure he even said ‘no brooke’. and i’m also even more sure he knew it was an empty no. i love her salute. so much.

this set with cannon and kuba are some of my faves. kuba is this very calm guy and i love when brooke would tell him to speak polish to cannon to get him to laugh. and it did. every time.

and brooke and her boy? favorites too. for a couple reasons. i love the light sunflare. and i love her side profile. plus i think her hair looks pretty great too- and her eyelashes.

i mean seriously- cannon is such a cool little guy. i love him looking all dapper- sitting at an old wooden desk- and that smile? was instant. as in, he smiled at me from the beginning til the end. lucky mecannoncoll

and then we headed to seward park. i had never been before. how this is, i have no idea, but i was in total absolute heaven. i was surrounded by green- everywhere. big huge trees. long shaggy grass and open space. and these three did an outfit change in the parking lot- in like no time at all. brooke put on a dress in my favorite color with her pearls. and the boys? they looked so perfect in their short sleeve button ups and jeans.  and we just kind of roamed around. i even managed to fall into a hole (which brought me down to my knees) not once, but twice. in all the open space – how i managed to fall into the same hole twice is beyond me, but we got a pretty great laugh out of it.

the field shots are my faves. i love that they are just of them- with me kind of capturing from afar.

kuba had to get into the office, so brooke, cannon and i hung out a bit longer in the field. i just wanted to sit back- and watch these two. there is just something about a mama and her  baby.

Thank you for putting up with me. Thank you for putting up with my 1,000 props and my diva like direction and my passive/aggressiveness. I need to pour you a cold one, or 8. :)

June 4, 2010 - 4:20 pm meg - In highschool they would have surely been voted 'best dressed family', were you able to edit out the blood pouring from Cannon's mouth. What a delightful little teaser!

June 10, 2010 - 10:43 pm Quinn - this is the best dressed family i've seen! great job capturing their style

fern and charlie

are my dad’s parent’s. i never met them. they died while my dad was in his 20’s. but i have always admired these little b/w – maybe a bit sepia(ish) photos that my dad has of him and his brother’s when they were young. photos his parent’s took of them.  you know the tiny little pictures with kind of the creamy white and brownish tint, where nobody is smiling or looking very happy, and where it seems everybody is looking through the lens- actually boring a hole through it? well, i now have a piece of my grandparents. my dad found their old camera from the 30’s- it’s called a brownie junior six-20. kind of amazing. because i really don’t have much of them. not many photos or personal belongings. and of all the things to find up in my dads closet with a good layer of dust- but his perfect little boxy camera.

camera

June 3, 2010 - 7:15 am Sandie Brown - wow, in all these years I have never seen this "little Brownie" camera..I am anxious to find out if it still works...

June 3, 2010 - 7:21 pm Heidi - And....to top it off, it is a "Brownie" love that you also share a similar name - this is priceless.

June 4, 2010 - 4:21 pm meg - How does something like that even begin to work? I just don't 'get' things from the olden days. What a great decoration!

this is what the rain will do to ones spirits

not only that… but it’s making me cancel all my shoots. c’mon sunshine. i know you are out there.

rebelsnoozy

June 2, 2010 - 9:59 am Karen - It is getting a bit ridiculous!

June 4, 2010 - 4:21 pm meg - I'm with ya...ready for some sun. Surely it will be sunny this weekend since I am working...

May 26, 2010 - 11:36 am Marnae - Love this one! It turned out great.

May 26, 2010 - 12:26 pm Sandie Brown - what a cute little bird..whoever said babies didn't belong in baskets!

May 26, 2010 - 12:49 pm Gina - This is super cute!

May 26, 2010 - 12:54 pm Jocelyn - well, technically the little bird is not in a basket. he is in 3 wreathes set on top of eachother. i couldn't find a basket that looked like a birds next so i did it this way:). i do think it's pretty cute. and honestly, a bit funny too.

May 27, 2010 - 2:52 pm amby - Ryder's looks are changing sooo quickly! I had to really think that this was him! Great shot Joc this must be the nest that gave him some rash/scratches?

May 27, 2010 - 5:49 pm Alicia - Cute! You have to share where you got the basket. You know I love it and with all the newborns I shoot I have to have it. Of course I would credit you for the inspiration ;) Good job!

May 28, 2010 - 7:39 pm meghan - oh love this! little bird...so cute!

May 30, 2010 - 10:47 pm Katy - Well, that was me Sandie. ;) But I do love these! He looks so cozy in that blanket...in the makeshift basket...such a cute little bird for sure!

May 31, 2010 - 10:45 am Jocelyn - ha ha. it was me too katy.. kind of still is. but for ryder we tried something different and it was hilarious doing so!

May 31, 2010 - 11:00 am sundi - I love that idea! It looks just like a nest not even after you say it's not! Cute idea. Ryder is a doll.

May 31, 2010 - 10:06 pm meg - Love babies in baskets. Love this baby. Love that you would ever think of putting 3 wreaths together. You have a vision my dear, and I think it's always spot on!
