we rolled into georgetown around 7:30 am… having planned this time months in advance.. thinking that in july… it was bound to be super sunny. um. it was anything but. it was grey & super cold. poor little madeline’s lip were blueish.. but we made the best of it. running around an empty parking lot- scouring the train tracks for salvaged metal for kip…. and finding a big empty box and playing house. i shot this family when little allie was still tucked inside lis last year. so fun to see growing families. i am always so pleasantly surprised at how the newest additions fit in so seamlessly… and this little allie is no exception. she is madeline’s opposite & the two together are pretty dang cute. i love their round little faces & bright bright blue eyes. enjoy!

even though i know this family and i vacation in chelan with this family- there was just something different about meeting up with them. just them. just their family. at their home. no cousins. no grandparents. no aunts or uncles. just them. and i loved seeing them.. just as they are. i got to watch them open up to me- and it was plain to see that they really really like eachother. making eachother laugh came naturally. and i loved seeing this part of who they are. thank you wegner/ellis family for inviting me into your home/yard. and man, what a yard it is, right? you probably thought we went to a park.. but nope, just their gorgeous grounds. enjoy

*these shots of madisen are some of my favorites. so much of it has to do with where she is in her life. 17 years old. summer going into senior year. she made me (just by looking at her) remember some of those things again & i just got excited for her and all that she’s becoming. just a really pretty young woman. and a really good girl.

arizona 4th of july style

uncle bennett and me (auntie josie) went to AZ to visit my favorite 6 hooligans and to say we had the BEST time…. well, that doesn’t even cover it. i leave arizona always with tears in my eyes.. because i’m leaving behind my loves. these little people fill me to the brim with LIFE. maybe i love being an aunt so much because i don’t have my own kiddos. so, these 6 have a very special place in my heart & soul. i’m so proud of them. i’m so amazed by them. i think everything they do and say is the funniest. & when i’m near them… i just want to smoosh their faces and love on them to get them even nearer.

today, sundi texted me saying that ryan was showing the girls pictures of me on my wedding day, and ryan asked delaney (pointing to me) who is that? and delaney answered a princess! to say that made my day? well, that too wouldn’t cover it. enjoy!

these are from recent shoots that i haven’t even begun to edit yet, but always sort of scan through and a few always catch my eyes. sooooo, these are my ‘eye-catcher’s’ of late. i think just last week i was oohing and awing over b/w… well, i’m back to color. just like that:)

this darling couple is corey,ashley and rodeo- they are really just 3 parts of a larger family.. i am actually shooting corey and ashley’s wedding next june. you’ll see more of them soon, plus the rest of ashley’s family. we spent an evening at bellevue park.

AND, this little nugget is allie (she’s megan p’s niece). so cuuuute, right? don’t even get me started. she is also just 1 part of the rest of her family’s shoot.. but i couldn’t get over her perfect little face and piggies. more coming soon!

julie & her boy: family session

julie’s mom was in town from Tennessee and was a big part of our session together- which i love because i know how important it is to share these moments and further down the road.. i know how important it is to cherish these moments. i love that these four (lola the dog is always in b/w) showed up in b/w and i love the lighting of the trees. mason kind of set things in motion by just being his perfect little self. he had a thing for my camera & wanted to take pictures & have himself a look. it became a great reward. i’d say ‘ok mason go sit and have your picture taken’ & he would.. and then he’d come and snap a picture.

i think it would be so dang hard to ever punish a face that looked up at me like this. just saying.

& then we ran over to the beach- stripped mason boy of his clothes & let him run around with his dog.. in a onesie and then nakeds of course. for julie & i the weather, albeit a bit breezy- was perfect. for her mom from tennessee? not so much. i think she even mentioned her thoughts on someone calling child protective services on us when we stripped mason naked and had his toes in the sound. it was a perfect evening- the sound was littered with sail boats, lots of people on shore with their hoodies on. a really great evening in the pacific northwest.

i love this one in b/w. absolutely love it. i didn’t even set anything up in any of these grass shots. mason was just playing around.. sometimes looking out and me and my camera just followed. i feel like i got lucky.

we were totally done shooting, packing up our bag and chit chatting when i said to julie ‘can you guys just sit here?’ at that point, it was just mason & julie and all of a sudden, lola came up and i got the perfect ‘family shot’. naturally. again, so lucky:)

i’m giving this little guys mama another peek since her pictures should have been ready today, but aren’t. boo. & i swear, i don’t set out to do pictures in the same field each time, but lately, everywhere i go- no matter where -even at the beach- i keep finding them. if mason isn’t the cutest thing ever- i seriously don’t know what is. julie, i promise- you will have your pics pronto pup.

i felt all of their laughter- from my head to my tippy toes. i liked these two. ok. i really liked these two. a lot. from the beginning of reenie and i jumping out of our cars & hugging. to the part mid way in the shoot, reenie looks from kadin to me and says ’isn’t he just so cute?’ & me agreeing whole heartedly. how they were together- was so full of love & giddiness- it was infectious. i left them with a huge huge huge smile on my face. i can’t wait to meet their little person. boy or girl. it’s gonna be a surprise. i love that ( i couldn’t do it, but love it none the less). enjoy kadin+reeniee & their soon to be baby.

catching my eye from over the weekend

all of a sudden.. i’m feeling more b/w. has been color lately, but something about this weekend has re-turned me on to b/w. i had two shoots this weekend & these are what is catching my eye!

i shot this family of three at gasworks park & fell in love with this shot- did you notice olivia’s little feet crossed over just so? each of their expressions are seriously perfect.

& these two are just a teensy part of a family shoot i did on friday- the ellis + wegner family- amby (the mom) is my mom’s best friend’s daughter. because of the connection my mom & i have.. this photo just hit me- i love how you can tell how much they adore one another!
